Mergers & Acquisitions

Mergers and acquisitions can fundamentally change the course of direction for a company, and a well-executed transaction can move a business a long way toward achieving its strategic goals.

The decision to carry out an M&A transaction should be weighed carefully, taking into account cost, risk and alternative options. Kerlin works side-by-side with a company’s leadership to help them make informed decisions no matter what their situation. In fact, we are not afraid of advising against a transaction that we feel is not in a client’s best interest. Our goal is to ensure that when our clients enter into a deal, they do so with the conviction that they are making the right choices.

In many cases, our transactional work develops from a continuing dialog with a company: as we work with clients over time we are able to help them devise tailor-made options that will move them toward achieving their longer-term goals. Oftentimes, this involves not simply executing a deal, but actually creating the opportunity — finding a buyer or a seller who is not actively vocal about their intentions and working discretely to bring all parties together.

In such situations there is simply no replacement for experience and relationships.

“The Kerlin team developed an in-depth understanding of our business and our situation. They helped us plan for and successfully execute a sale, and they did so with gusto.” Andy Nelson President, McCann’s Engineering and Manufacturing
