Former LERETA Management and a Private Investment Group Acquires LandAmerica OneStop’s Tax and Flood Division

Kerlin was engaged by former executives of LERETA Corp., which was acquired by LandAmerica in 2003 and was to be sold as part of LandAmerica’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. Kerlin and the executives, Mr. James Thornton and Mr. Doug Foley, negotiated an exclusivity agreement with LandAmerica’s bankruptcy trustee, completed due diligence and negotiated the final valuation. Messrs. Foley and Thornton were the lead investors along with a private investment group. Kerlin had previously represented LERETA Corp. in its sale to LandAmerica in 2003 for $225 million.
